Javier Pastore was on fire as PSG beat Metz to remain top of Ligue 1 on Wednesday. It was a convincing 3-1 victory in which Edinson Cavani, Marco Veratti and Van Der Wiel scored. Modibo Maiga scored the lone goal for Metz Javier Pastore set up all three goals which saw him receive the man of the match award.PSG were without star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic who was serving his three match ban. But he will be available for PSG’s next game.

The first goal came around the 22nd minute when Pastore was given too much space and he found Marco Veratti inside the penalty area who finished it off onto the bottom corner. The next goal came in the 42nd minute with a swift attack down the middle. Edinson Cavani controlled the ball, passed it to Javier Pastore and continued his run till he got the ball back from Pastore and he dinked the ball beyond Metz goalkeeper Mezui. It was 2-0 when the referee had blown his whistle for half time.
After the break Maiga pulled a goal back for Metz after a pinpoint cross from Bouna Sarr. Cavani had a chance to double their advantage but he fired straight into the arms of the keeper. Van Der Wiel secured the win for the home side as he scored with thirteen minutes remaining.
PSG are looking for their third successive league title.
