The best chance of the first half came to Mario Gotze but he
failed to find the net in a one on one situation. During the second half
Claudio Pizzaro found himself with the same chance like that of Gotze but he
too failed to find the net. Bayer broke the deadlock with a goal from Hakan
Calhanoglu. He scored from an absolute brilliant free kick which he curled onto
the far corner. It came in the 55th minute.
In the 80th minute Bayer doubled their lead with
a goal from Julian Brandt. Thiago Alcantara lost possession in midfield which
Karim Bellarbi stole and put a ball towards Brandt who finished it with power
and Manuel Neuer had no chance at all.
Julian Brandt was celebrating his 19th birthday
and he marked it with a goal. Bayern made six changes from the side who faced Borussia
Dortmund in mid- week. It was very clear that Bayern were already focusing for
Barcelona.
But the loss will not affect Bayern Munich as they already
are champions with 3 games remaining.
