Barca Batters Cordoba as Suarez Scores A Hat-trick

Barcelona slammed Cordoba with a big 8-0 win over relegation strugglers Cordoba. The game saw Barcelona extend their lead with Real Madrid to 5 points but Real Madrid have a game in hand.

It was pretty unlucky for the home side as they did their best to keep barca at bay till the 43rd minute. The goals were scored by Rakitic, Messi, Suarez, Pique and Neymar. Suarez scored his first hat-trick for Barcelona. Lionel Messi scored a brace as the other scorers just scored once. Cordoba Defense was well-organized in the opening minutes but it all came to an end after a stunning finish from Ivan Rakitic after a good pass from Lionel Messi. The second came just 2 minutes later from none other than Luis Suarez. The second half was underway and it took less than a minute for Barcelona to score as Lionel Messi pounced on a Dani Alves cross from nowhere onto the bottom corner. Literally Barcelona had scored 3 goals in just 4 minutes. The fourth goal was’nt too far away as Suarez again headed a perfect Dani Alves cross in the 53rd minute.

Substitutions were made by both sides as Mathieu came on for Mascherano and Xavi came on for Iniesta. Fede came on for Bebe for Cordoba. The next goal came in the 65th minute and this time it was from a set-piece (corner kick). Gerard Pique pounced on a lovely corner kick taken by Ivan Rakitic. The 6th goal came in the 80th minute when Suarez was tripped by the goal keeper after he cut past him and Messi scored onto an empty net. The 7th came from Neymar as he himself converted the penalty after being felled inside the penalty area. Luiz Suarez completed his hat-trick and scored Barcelona’s eighth goal as he latched on to a deflected shot that came right into his feet. Messi is now one goal ahead of Ronaldo in the Pichichi trophy.

The win took Barcelona one step closer to the league title as they are now on 87 points 5 clear of Real Madrid who have a game in hand.
