Cristiano Ronaldo scored a hat-trick as Real Madrid beat Sevilla

Real Madrid beat Sevilla in 5 goal thriller which saw Cristiano Ronaldo claim his sixth hat-trick of the season. It was a nervy night for Real Madrid as Sevilla were on an unbeaten streak at home since February 2014.

Cristiano Ronaldo made amends for his scoreless streak in two games after he netted a wonderful       hat-trick. It meant that Ronaldo is now on top of the Pichichi trophy race with Lionel Messi. Ronaldo’s two goals came in the first half that too in a gap of just one minute and he completed his hat-trick in the second half.

Real Madrid dominated possession for the opening minutes and the first chance of the game came from a Cristiano Ronaldo free kick which came dipping downwards towards goal but it was just high.
The opening goal came in the 36th minute after some good work from Isco down the left-hand side cutting past two defenders and sending in a left footed cross which Ronaldo met with his head to make it 1-0. The second did not take much time to come as James Rodriguez sent in a cross towards Chicharito who couldn’t adjust his head in time and it bonced across the face of goal and Ronaldo ran past two defenders to tap the ball in. The Sevilla goal came on the verge of half time as Ramos felled Aleix Vidal in the box unnecessarily which led to a penalty and Carlos Bacca took it in some style bringing Sevilla back into the game.

The second half was underway and Sevilla were looking a bit more aggressive than in the first half. Gareth Bale came on as a second half substitute for Chicharito and he made instant impact after he sent in a wonderful header to Ronaldo and he finished it off with a wonderful looping header. Sevilla looked to come back to the game and they fired a goal back in the 79th minute when Iborra tapped in an Aleix Vidal cross. Real Madrid defended well after that and they secured a vital 3 points which is very necessary for the league title.
